Eight colors, two coppers, zero ADA compromises
The walnut canvas already clears AA comfortably. The addition of a second, darker copper solves the one weakness of Option 2 — copper-on-cream body text — while keeping the signature burnt copper alive for headlines, buttons, and ornament.
Every critical pairing, measured
WCAG 2.1 AA thresholds: 4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text (24px+ or 19px bold+) and UI components. Decorative elements have no minimum.
Fraunces + Inter
Fraunces is a variable serif with warm, slightly quirky detailing — it echoes the classical letterforms in the Keeler logo without feeling stuffy. Inter carries the body copy cleanly. Both are free, self-hostable, and tuned for screens.

Hero on cream, hero on walnut
Both surfaces pull from the same palette. The cream hero is the homepage default; the walnut hero handles testimonials, CTA bands, and the contact footer.

Measure twice.
Build once.
A Keeler project is judged a decade from now, not at the punch list. That's why the work takes the time it takes.
How copper earns its keep
The two-copper system means copper never has to apologize. Burnt copper is the one copper — backgrounds, buttons, text at every size.
Do
- Use Burnt Copper #9B5A1F for large headlines, eyebrow text at 24px+, buttons, icon strokes, borders, dividers, and ornamental flourishes.
- Use Burnt Copper #9B5A1F for any copper-colored text under 24px — inline links, captions, small labels, body accents.
- Set body copy in Dark Walnut or Charcoal on cream — never in copper.
- On dark walnut sections, copper is safe for headlines and buttons (3.8:1 passes AA large).
- Use Sage for secondary accents, tags, and large-text highlights.
Don't
- Don't set body text (under 19px bold / 24px regular) in Burnt Copper on cream — it only clears 3.5:1, which fails AA for body.
- Don't use Warm Oak #C4913A for text of any size — decorative ornaments only.
- Don't set Sage text below 24px — it's large-text safe, not body safe.
- Do not reintroduce the old rustic copper #B87333 — it has been retired.
- Don't introduce a new copper shade. Two is the system.
